Ebay launches first NFT collection featuring Wayne Gretzky

Ebay has long been known as a resale site where people buy and sell different items. You may have visited their website searching for electronics, the latest fashion, auto parts and accessories, and more. 

But, going forward, when you hear about eBay, you will think about NFTs as well. 

eBay is launching its first NFT collection called “Genesis”. ItThey will be collaborating on this collection with OneOf, a green NFT platform that connects music and sports fans to their favorite brands, artists, and athletes.

While this is eBay’s first NFT collection, it will be OneOf’s fourth collection. eBay will benefit from OneOf’s valuable experience with NFTs while OneOf will gain access to one of the largest online marketplaces.

“Through our partnership with OneOf, eBay is now making coveted NFTs more accessible to a new generation of collectors everywhere,” said Dawn Block, the vice president of eBay collectibles, electronics and home at eBay, in a statement. “This builds upon our commitment to deliver high-passion, high-value items to the eBay community of buyers and sellers.”

What can you expect from this collection? The collection will feature 3D and animated versions of famous athletes who have graced Sports Illustrated covers. 

The first collection, The Sports Illustrated x Wayne Gretzky collection, will showcase Canadian hockey player Wayne Gretzky through 13 digital avatars. The avatars will be available as green, gold, platinum, and diamond-tier NFTs.

Interested NFT enthusiasts can expect prices to range between $10 to $1500.

He added, “This builds upon our commitment to deliver high-passion, high-value items to the eBay community of buyers and sellers.”

From this collaboration, sports’ fans can look forward to more NFT collections of their favorite athletes.
