Snoop Dogg to open Bored Ape Yacht Club-themed restaurant

When you indulge your NFT interest and do your own research (DYOR), you will probably come across a couple of cartoons of disinterested apes.

The Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) is a blue-chip NFT with plenty of utility that has drawn several celebrity owners to its community. Snoop Dogg is one of them.

The rapper is one of the most involved celebrities when it comes to NFTs. He also happens to own a BAYC NFT he calls Dr. Bombay. But Dr. Bombay’s days of being just a virtual image are coming to an end — Dr. Bombay is coming to the restaurant space.

Snoop is working with Food Fighters Universe to launch Dr. Bombay’s Sweet Exploration. The restaurant plans to create an “immersive retail dessert experience” for its customers. The collaboration with Food Fighters Universe makes sense because they are the first eatery inspired by BAYC NFTs, Bored & Hungry, a startup co-founded by Andy Nguyen, Kevin Seo, and Phillip Huynh.

“Food Fighters Universe is bridging food and Web3 and blazing a trail with real-life utility for NFTs,” Snoop’s son, Cordell Broadus, said. “It’s the future of the restaurant industry, and my dad and I are thrilled to join the team and utilize their expertise to bring Dr. Bombay to life.”

This comes as no surprise for owners of BAYC NFTs. Yuga Labs, the creators of BAYC, give owners the privilege of commercializing their NFTs. The apes have already appeared as apparel, beer, marijuana packaging, virtual band projects, and film and TV productions.

This isn’t Snoop’s first tangle with the NFT world. Besides owning some BAYC NFTs, he has collaborated with the Sandbox on Ethereum and Clay Nation on Cardano, and also released NFTs based on the classic Nyan Cat meme.
