Partnerships with sports athletes, artists, and actors are becoming popular for Web3 brands.
eBay collaborated with Wayne Gretzky, NBA Top Shot with Magic Johnson, and now, Binance with Cristiano Ronaldo.
In a bid to bring the world of NFTs to football fans, Binance is teaming up with Cristiano Ronaldo – the most followed individual on Instagram with 459 million followers (as of July 1, 2022). The partnership brings together the world’s biggest cryptocurrency exchange by trading volumes and one of the world’s current top football players.
Binance Co-founder and CEO Changpeng Zhao praised the football star saying he has, “transcended sport to become an icon in multiple industries. He has amassed one of the world’s most dedicated fan bases through his authenticity, talent, and charity work.”
What to expect from the collaboration? A series of collectibles for sale exclusively on the Binance NFT platform. The first collection is expected to hit the marketplace later this year.
“Proud to be partnering with @binance Together we’ll give you the opportunity to own an iconic piece of sports history. I’m excited to take this journey with all of you. Let’s change the NFT game with #Binance.” Ronaldo tweeted.
This is not a Binance first going against the grain of a bearish market. While other companies were laying off, it hired 2,000 employees.
