“Growing up, there was almost no trans visibility for me to see, and I would get so frustrated, because I wanted to work so hard to do cool s–t so I could let someone else see what I was doing and feel that validation,” FEWOCiOUS told Billboard. “Maybe it’s not art — maybe you do fashion, maybe you do makeup, maybe it’s something else entirely — but be the person that you aren’t seeing enough of in the world.”
This is not the first time Billboard and FEWOCiOUS have joined forces. The NFT artist was the guest cover illustrator for the annual Pride issue.
Billboard ChartStars launched in March as a music digital collectibles project in alliance with Universal Music Group. The project celebrates UMG artists’ achievements on the Billboard charts as exclusive NFTs. Unblocked is ChartStars’ NFT tech partner and as such, enables credit card payments and runs on the Flow blockchain platform. Flow is touted as more environmentally friendly relative to other mainstream blockchain tech.
