Instagram Opens Doors to NFTs

What happens when your favorite photo-sharing social media app adds features supporting NFTs? Metaverse fireworks!

Instagram is set to release a multi-chain feature for NFTs. The new feature will connect users’ digital wallets to their Instagram accounts. This will allow artists and people to showcase and share their verified NFTs.

Whether you created or own one, you will be able to share your NFT in stories, reels, and messaging.

While users will not be able to trade or sell NFTs, they will have a “digital collectible” tag. Once a user taps the digital tag, they will get access to more information about the NFT.

Ethereum and Polygon will be the first chains on the app. Later, they will be followed by Flow and Solana.

Will the app have its own digital wallet? No, but it will support popular third-party digital wallets like Rainbow, MetaMask, and Trust Wallet. Soon, they will add Coinbase, Dapper, and Phantom.

Best of all? There are no fees associated with posting or sharing a digital collectibles.

One small thing. Most of us will have to wait a little bit before we can use these cool features.

First, the new functions will be tested by a few artists. With the feedback, they will roll out more functionality related to NFTs in the future.

They are saving the best of the functionality for last. You!

We will be watching… closely.
